Olija is a game about Faraday's quest, a man shipwrecked then trapped in the mysterious country of Terraphage. Armed with a legendary harpoon, he and other castaways try to leave this hostile country to return to their homelands. Through adventurous exploration, narration and razor sharp combat, the player will discover a strange world and its inhabitants, including Olija, an enigmatic lady that Faraday finds himself bound to over time. Inspired by swashbuckling tales and cinematic adventure games, Olija is a story about facing the unknown in adversity.

I love that we live in a time when developers can make beautifully animated pixel art type games that can sit side by side with technical masterpieces like Doom Eternal. The 90s was a great time for shooters (and now is as well thanks to the boomer shooter resurgence), but it was a time where companies were constantly trying to one up each other technically, so games became more about the engines and graphics than the gameplay. Now we have both sides as some devs strive to make games that deliberately evoke retro while still feeling new, fresh, and fun to play. I will forever love gaming as an art form and entertainment medium.

I don't like the pixelated style. It just makes it really unclear and it must be hard to see what to interact with. Since it's possible to have incredible graphics, why not use them?
